Christmas is traditionally a time for storytelling…
This year, Sutton Writers Christmas Competition is an open house for writers of prose and / or poetry. Be inspired by winter, yuletide or Christmas. Write a fantasy, a true story, a narrative poem, a children’s story, a sonnet, a haiku, an adult ghost story, a sci-fi zombie extravaganza, or a mix of two or three genres – just make sure the narrative reflects the Spirit of the Season.
The closing date for entries is Sunday 15th November 2026.
Can you dream of Christmas in twenty-five days…?
The competition will be judged by an independent adjudicator, Rev Andrew Fenby from St Mary’s Church, Beddington, and his decision will be final.
Entries can be in poetry or prose, up to a limit of 40 lines for poetry, 1200 words for prose.Â
As the judging is anonymous, please include a title, but do not print your name the document.Â
A small prize to the single overall winner will be presented at the Christmas Party on 2nd December 2026.
For more information on entry terms and conditions, see Competition Rules
We look forward to receiving your entry.
